Visiting Naples in five days is perfect to get an idea of Naples and its surroundings.
Naples does not leave you indifferent and whatever you know, it will hook you and you will want to return soon. Naples is a city in southern Italy and it shows in its streets, in its history, in its people.
In it are important religious buildings, its imposing medieval castles and charming corners that take you back to past times. And of course, the most famous and oldest pizza in the whole world.
What can you visit in five days in Naples? The city, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, Paestum… Then it is a question of preferences, where do you prefer to sleep, if you always stay in the same place and move around or if you prefer to visit alone some ruins, more or less cities…
DAY 1: VISIT NAPLES
If you visit Naples city, you must visit the most important monuments of the capital.
If you wish, you can hire a tour to get to know the most important things, this way you make the most of your time, it would give you time to get to know the most important things in the capital of Campania, locate yourself and then move around wherever you want and visit what really interests you. be interested
DAY 2: pompeii and vesuvius
VISIT ONLY POMPEII
Pompeii is another of the obligatory corners in a three-day visit to Campania. You must get close to the base of Vesuvius and visit this amazing city discovered in the most recent history.
It is advisable to bring the ticket purchased in advance and in this way you avoid the long waiting lines that form. Here you can buy it at the same price as at the box office.
An excellent way to visit the ruins is to hire an audio guide and move freely through the archaeological park. And if you are one of those who likes to know history in depth, told by a professional archaeologist, do not miss the opportunity because the visit is twice as enjoyable (click here).
If you want to spend less time visiting ruins, Herculaneum is a beautiful, complementary archaeological park that allows you to get an idea of what an ancient city was like under ashes. They are completely different and complementary. None detracts.
VISIT POMPEII AND OTHER AREA
Another option for your second day is to visit Pompeii in the morning in about 4 hours, a difficult task but not impossible since you want to see more and more ruins.
Then you could visit many nearby places such as Mount Vesuvius, Sorrento, Herculaneum. Depending on what interests you most, we recommend getting up very early to make the most of the day or directly hire one of the excursions that take you to the archaeological park and another area and, at the end, leave you back in the city center. If you are not organized and calculating, added to the transport chaos of the Italian city, it can be a day more than complicated and lost. Therefore, it does not hurt to hire an excursion to make the most of your time.
DAY 3: CAPRI
One day in Capri. You can go by ferry and sleep there or go back to the Italian mainland and return in the day.
You can go by public transport or hire a circuit that takes you directly to see the beautiful towns of the island, Capri and Anacapri, without having to worry about time or transport.
Remember that they are areas with a lot of traffic and parking difficulties, so you don’t worry about it. Public transport is not a recommended option since there are tremendous queues and there is little frequency and few means. The motorcycle is the ideal option.
DAY 4: AMALFI COAST
The fourth day would be dedicated to discovering only the Amalfi Coast (or to skip Pompeii or Capri and spend two days in this beautiful area).
To visit the Coast, you can take a bus that leaves you in those locations you want. As in Capri, they are areas with a lot of traffic and parking difficulties, so if you book an excursion you don’t have to worry about transportation. You can visit all the towns you want, so unless you do it on a motorcycle, you won’t have time to see more than two or three, Amalfi, Positana and some more of the little ones along the way.
DAY 5: PAESTUM OR ANY AREA THAT HAS BEEN PENDING US
The last day would be used to discover what was pending and could be desired more. Return to Naples, which is well worth two days, stretch another one along the beautiful Amalfi Coast, visit the Greek temples of Paestum or whatever we prefer…
